Study days: General management of the breathless patient

Stand-alone study days for healthcare professionals, organised by Pulmonary Hypertension Association UK (PHA UK).

‘General Management of the Breathless Patient’, primarily aimed at healthcare professionals in primary or secondary care medicine, aims to provide attendees with an improved understanding of PAH and the issues patients face in day-to-day life.

On completion of the course, attendees will be able to recognise the signs and symptoms of PAH, have greater knowledge of treatments and side-effects and feel more confident in supporting pulmonary hypertension (PH) patients and their families.


The one-day programme, delivered in small focussed sessions, will cover a variety of topics including:

The circulatory system
The heart and lungs
Pathology of PH and disease progression
The breathless patient
Epidemiology of PH

Forms of PH and clinical classification
WHO functional classification of PH
Associated conditions
Rehabilitation
Basics of the benefit system

10.30 am – 3.30pm
